What happens after investigations conducted by financial jurisdictions ?

COUR DES COMPTES

Responsible for ensuring the proper use of public funds and informing citizens, the Cour des comptes and the regional and territorial chambers of accounts (CRTC) examine the accounts and management of the State and public bodies, as well as, in certain cases, private bodies, particularly when they receive public funds. In this context, the financial jurisdiction issue hundreds of recommendations each year to the heads of the public administrations and bodies within their jurisdiction. These recommendations, based on the most significant audit findings, are intended to guide the thinking and decision-making of public actors towards improving the efficiency of public policies and management.
The report shows that 76% of these recommendations are fully or partially implemented.
After declining in the wake of the health crisis, which placed heavy demands on public administrations and delayed the launch or implementation of certain reforms, this rate has again begun to rise. This level is all the more satisfactory given that a significant proportion of the recommendations that have not yet been implemented relate to the design of public policies that often involve several partners, meaning that their implementation requires careful consideration and preparatory measures that the ministries concerned must undertake over the long term.
