The Court of Accounts was interviewed on 18 July by the Olympic and Paralympic Games (JOP) monitoring delegation of the French National Assembly’s Committee on Cultural Affairs and Education. This hearing follows the submission to Parliament of a supplementary report on the organisation of the 2024 Olympic Games, which examines the revised budget of the Games Organising Committee (COJOP) adopted on 12 December 2022. This follows an initial report submitted in December 2022, which was unable to assess the sustainability of the budget. The work published today therefore represents a new stage in the extraordinary mission carried out under article 29 of the Olympic law relating to the organisation of the 2024 Olympic Games, by which Parliament mandated the Court to audit the legal entities receiving public funds for the preparation of this event – which is expected to be watched by thirteen million spectators and four billion television viewers, according to the COJOP.
